"gets straight to the heart of the legal matter"
My strong civil law background and my experience as a tribunal judge make me ideally qualified to act as Arbitrator.
Arbitration provides a focussed, flexible and efficient alternative to court proceedings in most, if not all, civil disputes.
It is not necessary for the parties to have experience of arbitration procedure as an effective Arbitrator can help them identify the issues and direct them on the steps they need to take to enable their dispute to be resolved.
Generally, an Arbitrator can grant the same range of remedies as a civil court. This includes the awarding of costs (or expenses) in favour of the successful party.
With pro-active case management by the Arbitrator, the procedure should be no more elaborate than is necessary to deal fairly and justly with the particular dispute. The focus throughout should be on narrowing the issues in dispute and making a decision on any issues incapable of resolution.
Unlike court proceeding, arbitrations can be conducted confidentially and within a fixed timescale. The parties can agree to restrict their right of appeal against the final award.
I trained as an Arbitrator in London and am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. This is an internationally recognised qualification that allows me to act as Arbitrator in Scotland, England or elsewhere.
If you would like to find out more about my availability or about the arbitration process generally please do not hesitate to get in touch.
